Quintessence of katana (sword)-making

Seki, Gifu Prefecture, with its 800-year-old history of sword-making, is home to our production. 'No breaks, no bends and razor-sharp' has been the rule in Japanese katana-making, and Kai stays true to that tradition.

Kai products, products of the land

Cormorants and cormorant fishermen along river banks adorn many an emaki (picture scrolls). Seki also is known for its 1300-year practice of cormorant fishing along the scopic Nagara River. Kai is proud to polish its products in a city which cares enough to preserve and venerate its abundant nature and tradition.
